Making money from home has become an important goal in the lives of many people.  Even during rough economic times more people than ever are trying to make money from home in an effort to obtain financial freedom.  Over the years you have probably heard of many ways to make money online, but there are some new ways that you have probably yet to consider.

Create A Social Media Site

Social media sites are now the most popular sites on the web by far.  These sites allow people to do what they want to do online; sharing information, sharing videos, sharing photos, interacting, gaining backlinks, gaining traffic, building credibility, etc...   If you were to set up a social site, you could actually be creating a business that rakes in traffic and revenues from various sources.  You could also broaden the scope by maintaining other social sites, or even by developing them for others.

Get Paid for Videos and Photos

There are companies online that will purchase your uploaded videos and photos, like Fotolia.  If you love capturing funny or interesting things on tape, make it a source of income.  If you are skilled in either area, which you might know if you constantly receive praise from others for your work, then maybe think about turning it into your day job, or night if you like.

Create A Search Engine

You may not be able to create the next Google, but some of the larger search engines will allow you to create a customized search engine regarding the niche of your choice, and share in the profits produced.

Get Paid for Your Knowledge

If you happen to have a lot of knowledge on a particular subject of interest, there are many sites online that will pay you to write articles for them.  You can write about what you want, when you want.  Some sites like Knol, Google's new encyclopedia, will pay you when ads get clicked within your articles, while other sites like Bukisa, will pay you when your articles reach a certain amount of views.  Writing for others may not enable you to work from home full time, unless of course you keep on hitting those hot topics.

Provide Software Demonstrations

If you happen to be skilled in the area of software and applications, it is possible to provide training or demonstrations online through services like GoToMeeting.com, which will put you right in front of your audience.  You could also provide desktop demos for developers to distribute to businesses, potential clients, and media.

Get Paid to Educate

If you have experience in a popular area, or special skills that you can pass along to others, you could host a teleseminar.  You could also create a video, instead of going live, and charge a fee for access.  Using videos is a great way to get your message out, hold the attention of your audience, and make a nice income.

Get Paid to Repair Operating Systems

Computers aren't going out of style anytime soon, and many people need help with various computer problems.  If you know just about everything there is to know about computers, you could offer a freelance service and help others solve their computer problems. Software such as, Copilot, will allow you to easily connect to another computer remotely.

Get Paid to Create Virtual Goods

When it comes to the virtual world, people are in need of business tools, design, and even fashion.  If you've seen sites like, Second Life, then you probably know that some people are making a nice income by creating virtual goods.

Get Paid to Find Jobs for Others

$50 or more is the price that many companies online, like Bohire, are willing to pay you for setting them up with a job candidate who gets hired.  Become a recruiter by helping others find jobs that they need.

Get Paid to Hook Up Merchant With Buyer

Sites such as, uRefer, will pay you a specified commission if you successfully set them up with a buyer for any product or service they are offering.  They show you what they have to offer, and if you refer someone who completes a purchase, you earn the specified commission.  This is similar to affiliate marketing, but you aren't actually an affiliate of anything.

Generally, there are always more ways to make money from home popping up online, some of them may require an investment on your part, while others will require no spending of any kind.  Some of these methods may enable you to make money fast online, while others may only pay you a little at a time depending on what your work produces.  These are just some of the newer ways to make money online that are not quite popular yet.  If you know more useful ways to make money online, feel free to post them.  Keep in mind that affiliate links and spam will not be posted.
