More and more people today are going to the Internet to do their shopping. People use it because it's fast and easy. At the same time, unethical people give some websites a bad name and it can be difficult to tell the safe sites from those that are not safe. This means consumers become weary about giving out their credit card information.

So, how does your web site come across? When others come and visit your site, do they feel like it's a safe place to leave their information? Let's look into 5 ways of assuring others that your site is a welcome place.

1. First, a professional looking web site is a must. A site full of distracting graphics and pictures is annoying, not to mention text with wild colors. Web sites without contact information are often suspect too. It's better to make it nice to look, easy to read and be sure to remember your contact information as well.

2. Not only should your site look professional, but the content must also be good. Think about it, if someone takes the time to read your page, they better be getting valuable information, right? They don't want to waste their time on a page that has nothing of value to them. Not only is this good for the people visiting your site, but it is good for the search engines as well. When the content is relevant, the search engines will rank it higher in the listings.

3. If you are selling a product or service, have a good photo of it. People are visual mostly and want to see what they are purchasing. If you don't sell a tangible item, find a good graphics artist to come up with a design. For example, if you are selling information that includes ebooks, find a graphic of an actual book to use and change the pictures on it. There are many options if you find the right graphic artist.

4. One tip off to others that your web site is less than professional is to have grammar and spelling errors. This does not have to happen and is easy to prevent. You can check it yourself or simply hire someone else to check it for you.

5. Lastly, have a page with your Terms of Service on it. You should put guidelines for refunds, returns, and money back. This tells the visitor what to expect and shows them that you really are professional. If you take credit cards, you must ensure your customers of their privacy with you.

A credible website is a successful one. It doesn't take that much effort to have a site that brings in the customers. Take the extra step to get your site to this level and you will experience success.
