If you have ever used any online forums, you know that like chat rooms, they are a place where people go to find answers, or interact with others who share similar goals and ideas.  Forums can be a gold mine of information depending on what you are looking for, and they can even help you benefit your home based business, or even an offline business.  In forums you can find answers to questions, inspiration, comedy, legitimate work at home jobs, and any kind of talk on any number of subjects.

Depending upon your niche, or the area in which you are seeking more information, simply do an online search for specific forums.  Once you find some that are interesting and helpful in your area of focus, all that you need to do is register.  You will need an email account, you will type in your information, and you will be sent a confirmation email so that you can participate in the forum of your choice.

Once you click on the confirmation email, you will be taken back to the forum where you can create your public profile.  Upload your picture, add some information about yourself, and then it's time to work on your signature.

The signature box is much like the author box, or resource box that can be found at the end of an article.  In this box is where you will build quality backlinks and market your business.  Your space will be limited, but you will have enough space to add 2 or 3 links to your websites or offers, as well as some compelling information for your readers.  You could simply add some of your main keywords within the anchor text of your link like this:

Legitimate Work at Home Jobs

This will provide your website with quality backlinks every time that you make a post in any forum.  Backlinks are very important to generating traffic to your website, so you may want to join a number of work at home forums, or whatever forums happen to be in your area of expertise or marketing.  If you happen to be marketing more than just a website, you can also create some more interesting information in your signature box such as:

If you would like a FREE website set up for you in less than 24 hours, click here now

Creating compelling content such as this will draw readers in who see your signature right after your forum post, and it will lead them to whatever offer you are trying to make.   If the readers are also involved in the same niche as you, they will be more likely to click on the second option rather than the first.  However, if your main goal is getting more quality backlinks to your website or home page, then perhaps the first option would work better for you.  It really depends on what you are trying to do, and what you are promoting.

The signature box should be the only area for marketing in any forum, unless the rules of the forum tell you otherwise.  Never market, promote, sell, or leave affiliate type links in your forum posts because it is almost never allowed, and is definitely frowned upon.  Use your signature box to market only.  Be forewarned.  Placing links in forum posts, especially right after joining any forum will get you tagged for spamming, which will get you booted from a number of forums.

If you really need help coming up with some great signature box material, you can take a look at those from really good marketers.  Go to Ezine Articles, or any popular place such as that where you will be able to view the author box at the end of any article.  It's fairly similar to using a signature box, and should give you some good inspiration.

Also know that the BBC code used in forums is not the same as HTML.  HTML looks like; <a href="http://www.init-2-winit.org">Legitimate Work at Home Jobs</a>.

The same link in BBC code will look like; Legitimate Work at Home Jobs.

Forums can be an excellent place to help you build your business, as well as find quality information on any number of subjects.  Post relevant questions, help out when you are able, and spend time just hanging out, but only use your signature box for marketing purposes.  As long as you follow the rules you shall find plenty of helpful information from others, meet some new people, and market your business at the same time.
