Article Directory - Alternative Energy

The sea is rapidly becoming a focus for our alternative energy needs, and there are at least 3 different ways that we can obtain power from the sea.

1.) We can lower turbines into the water which will be spun by the tides.  The turbines will then spin generators which will send electrictiy to the surface through pipes.

2.) We can create blockades on various inlets which will collect the high tide.  The tide will then be released back into the sea after it has passed through turbines which also spin generators and produce electricity.

3.) We can place a chain of pipes on the surface of the sea which will be linked together.  Waves move hydraulic rams located within the hinges which then moves the oil in the pipes, which will in turn move the hydraulic motors which will also create electricity.

Each of these forms of alternative energy from the sea should produce much more power than can be obtained from the wind.  A 472 sq. mile wave farm could provide enough power for all of the homes in the U.K.  With all of the area out on the open sea, we could become a world that is driven by alternative energy instead of fossil fuels, which was not even a consideration a couple of decades ago.

Do you think tidal/wave power should be a main focus for alternative energy?
