Why make a car that runs on hydrogen fuel?

While in hydrogen mode, the BMW Hydrogen 7 will emit only water vapor instead of harmful emissions like CO2.  Another great advantage to using hydrogen is its supply.  Fossil fuels may be limited, but hydrogen is available in great abundance(as long as we are using alternative energy sources to create the hydrogen) which means we won't have to worry about running low.  Hopefully we also won't have to worry about the price increasing with demand.

The Hydrogen 7 stores the liquid hydrogen in a high tec pressure tank, which gives its cruising range a better advantage over that of any other alternative energy source.  In hydrogen mode, the Hydrogen 7 can cruise for up to 125 miles, and then up to 300 more using petrol power.  Using a simple button located on the steering wheel, the Hydrogen 7 can switch from hydrogen mode to regular petrol power thanks to its dual power engine.

The Hydrogen 7 can hold up to 74 litres of petrol and 8 kgs of liquid hydrogen.  Even if there happens to be no hydrogen filling station nearby, the Hydrogen 7 will still be able to run on regular fuel on the fly.  Hydrogen remains to be the default fuel choice for the Hydrogen 7, but when there is none, it switches over to petrol automatically.

The Hydrogen 7 comes out full production ready, meeting all of the necessary processes that every BMW must undergo.  In 2007, only 100 of these cars were built, but BMW continues to produce more fuel efficient vehicles that also reduce emissions.  The goal for BMW is clean energy, fuel efficiency, and hydrogen driven.
