Scientists and environmentalists are constantly on the look out for cleaner renewable forms of energy.  With the rising of sea level, melting ice caps, greenhouse gases, and unpredictable weather becoming worse, there would appear to be a need to greatly reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that is put into the atmosphere.  

It would be great to plant more trees to help in the effort, however, trees take a long time to mature and do emit carbon dioxide while rotting or through metabolic activities.  Instead, scientists are currently planning on constructing towers that would extract the carbon dioxide from the air, and store it underground where it could be turned into liquid fuel.  

These carbon towers would have the ability to collect carbon dioxide that is produced from vehicles, fires, volcanoes, oil wells, and they would have the ability to absorb up to one ton of carbon dioxide each day.  Global Research Technologies is currently working on this product, and hopes that eventually millions of tons of carbon would be taken out of the air.  

The carbon towers could essentially be placed anywhere with very little effort.  This way, more towers can be placed in areas where they are needed the most.  There will also be various tower sizes, some larger and others smaller.  

 

The only problem may be the eye sore that these towers produce, but then again, if they are extracting millions of tons of carbon from the air we might not care as much.
