Love handles are undoubtedly the most stubborn part of the body to get rid of. For many of us, they tend to linger regardless of how hard we bust our but at the gym or try various diets. And unfortunately our bodies don't really want to let go of these long held fat stores. So we need to change our fitness approach to coax that fat from our sides.
Conveniently there is one major change to our work out program that will not only get great results, but will also save us a ton of time. Mini workouts done once or twice a day can turn our systems into fat burning machines and they can indeed get rid of love handles. The power of these mini workouts lies in their intensity and their ability to keep our metabolism running high.
Most of us waste a lot of time at the gym either resting or working up to that last hard set of each exercise or moving leisurely on the treadmill. The truth is that the key to a toned body and firm midsection is the intensity of the workout, meaning the amount of energy we exert per unit of time. The faster that we push our bodies to failure the better we stimulate growth and the release of fat burning hormones.
You can throw away those dumbbells and drop the gym membership. As long as you have a floor you've got all the equipment you need. A pull up bar could supplement this training, but isn't essential, as the exercises that get the greatest results are those compound movements which work the largest muscles in the body in the shortest period of time, namely, pushups and bodyweight squats.
The key to the mini workout is to perform each exercise to failure, that is, until you cannot perform another rep no matter how hard you try, and then to move immediately into the next exercise without resting in between. So a mini workout circuit of pushups, bodyweight quats and v-sits or crunches would require less than two minutes a day. It's tough to make an excuse not to spend two minutes a day training, right?
You can perform this once, twice, or three times a day, 5 to 6 days a week. But they should be frequent. If you're a gym buff, this can supplement your normal training and serve as the metabolic boost that burned those handles away, because it will. And if you hate the gym, this can be your time saving workout that keeps you looking like you live at the gym. But keep in mind, the key to these sessions is intensity. You must push to failure each and every set as quickly as possible, and that's the tough part. But once you get the hang of it, you'll make time for those two minutes a day with pleasure.
