Where does your site rank in the search engines?

When optimizing your website for the search engines, make sure you choose relevant keywords with lower competition. Word Tracker is a good way to determine what keywords you may want to use: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com

Or course, you can also use Word Tracker for your articles. Type in the topic you want to write about, and you will see how many people are searching for your topic. If you come up with few searches, you probably want to write about something else.

Use your keywords in the title tags, meta tags, and anchor tags. The title tag is at the top of the html page, and tells the search engines what your page is about. The meta tags should include a precise description of your site, this will show up in the search engines. The anchor text links one page to another, and should contain keywords. Here is an example of an anchor text: <A HREF=http://www.init-2-winit.org/retireinoneyear> Retire In One Year </A>

Some formats would show the Retire In One Year like this, without editing the html. On my site, I have to go into the html and wrap the link around the keywords, as shown above.

Use the following url's to find details about your site:

Find backlinks with: link:yoururl

Find out how many of your pages are indexed with: site:yoururl

Find out the Google cache of your site with: cache:yoururl

Also, remember to use your keywords in the content of your website and articles. Try to use them in the first and last 25 words of the page. Use variations of your specific keywords to dominate the search engines, and your niche.

Find variations in Google by typing this into the search box: ~keywords (Variations will be in bold)

Also, find competing sites using your keywords with: allintitle:yourkeywords

Check the loading speed of your site, and how to improve it with: www.WebsiteOptimization.com/services/analyze

Using search engine optimization (SEO) techniques will improve your search engine ranking (SER), and reveal where you rank. Be aware of where you stand, and optimize your site for Google. Most quality traffic, or targeted traffic wll come from Google.

As usual, learn, apply, and be successful!
